Nats’ Tell Police Porky Pies

The Nats claim they'll deliver more cops but they won't tell people the details of their Police LAC mergers.

Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party Cootamundra by-election candidate Matthew Stadtmiller called out the Nationals for misleading voters on Police.

National Party Signage on Police

“The Nationals claim that they will deliver more Police with forced amalgamation of Police Local Area Commands,” Mr Stadtmiller said.

“If these forced mergers are so good, then why are the details being hidden from voters before polling day this Saturday?

“They’re running around with signs claiming ‘VOTE NATS FOR MORE POLICE’, but this is just another stunt.

“This just shows that the National Party will do whatever it takes to win an election, but this is playing with people’s lives.

“Not only are the jobs of unsworn officers at risk under this merger, but response times will increase and I don’t know how this will improve the effectiveness of our Police.

“This is just another rural cutback by the National Party as they try and give the city a surplus.

“The National Party are just doing what they always do – whatever the city Liberal Party tells them.”

Matthew Stadtmiller and Robert Borsak in Young

Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party MLC Robert Borsak called out Nationals Police Minister Troy Grant as being weak for not allowing public scrutiny of his Police LAC merger plan.

“Police Minister Troy Grant never forgot how he lost his job as National Party Leader after we won the Orange by-election,” Mr Borsak said.

“Troy Grant is just scared to come clean with voters about his plans to cut Police Local Area Commands in the bush because he just wants to be ‘Mr Popular’.

“Troy: if you actually delivered something decent, people would actually like you and you wouldn’t have to be running scared.”
